Scott O. Sandman is the principal writer, editor and communications strategist behind Veracity Wordcraft and Communications, LLC — a free-lance consultancy providing world-class speechwriting, copywriting and strategic enterprise communications solutions to emerging and established businesses, organizations, candidates and public officials.
Before establishing Veracity in 2015, Sandman headed Executive Communications for BASF Corporation, in Florham Park, NJ — a position he held for eight years. Working directly with the CEO and other C-Suite executives, Sandman had an instrumental role in defining. cultivating and proliferating the BASF brand, particularly the Fortune Global 100 company’s thought leadership in sustainability and globally-focused R&D. His diligent pursuit of opportunities and speechwriting support, put BASF Executives on the most visible and influential North American podia the German company had ever spoken from, including keynotes at Detroit Economic Club; Wharton School of Business; GLOBE; and The Conference Board, among many others.
Previous to his corporate experience, Sandman served as New York Governor George E. Pataki's Senior Speechwriter. In this role, he worked with the Governor to craft remarks, talking points, speeches, Congressional testimony and major addresses including the State of the State, the Budget Address to the Legislature, and a major energy policy address to the Washington Press Club.
Prior to that, Sandman led communications and media relations for New York’s National Guard and State Militia forces as Director of Public Affairs and Media Relations Chief. Sandman’s tenure coincided with the September 11, 2001 attack on the World Trade Center, and the months and years that followed -- a period during which New York’s Army and Air National Guard force was the busiest in the nation, creating a new Guard doctrine on homeland defense..
Prior to six years in his civilian role with the Guard, Sandman served as Public Information Officer and on-the-record spokesman for the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services and the New York State Commission of Correction.
Sandman is a graduate of SUNY Plattsburgh, where he majored in English. He and his wife, Karen, two high-spirited daughters and Jaxx the Wonderdog live in Halfmoon, New York.
